Becoming a Member of GHAR
Become a REALTOR®
If you're looking for a career as a real estate agent in Connecticut, you'll need to fulfill the education requirement,
pass the real estate exam and submit the license fee. GHAR offers Principles and Practices
classes to help you fulfill the education requirement.
Become a New Agent Member of GHAR
To become a REALTOR® member of the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS®:
The application must be signed by the Designated REALTOR® or other authorized personnel.
Once the application has been received, the agent will be notified of the New Member Orientation Schedule.
Applicants have six months in which to complete
the required Orientation program. If the agent does not attend the Orientation Program within the required
six month period, they will have to reapply for membership and submit another application fee. Upon completion
of the Orientation Program, the agent's application will be forwarded to the Board of Directors.
Become a Designated REALTOR® Member of GHAR
To become a Designated REALTORĀ® member of the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS®:
Any real estate agents licensed in Connecticut and affiliated with the broker applying for membership must also become a REALTOR®
member and registered MLS user. Once the application has been received, the broker will be notified of the New Member Orientation
Schedule. Applicants have six months in which to complete the required Orientation program. If the broker does not attend the
Orientation Program within the required six month period, GHAR and MLS services will be terminated for the entire office,
including any agents affiliated with that broker.
Upon completion of the Orientation Program, the broker's application will be forwarded to the Board of Directors. Until the application
is approved, the broker will be listed as an applicant and they will be unable to receive any REALTORĀ® member benefits.
To Obtain Access to the REALTORS® Multiple Listing and Information Service
In addition to the membership application referenced above, new brokers and agents must complete an Office Affiliation for
New Members/Change Form for Current Members. This form must be submitted with the applicable
prorated MLS Office and User Fee.
To Obtain an Electronic Keycard or Keyboxes
- GHAR membership (or other REALTOR® Association) investment must be paid in full and the REALTOR® is required to
pay the required (pro-rated monthly) user fee.
- Complete the Keybox System Sub-Lease Agreement
- Contact Tina Guarino, to make an appointment to obtain a keycard and receive training.
If a broker or agent is currently a member of a REALTOR® Association such as Mid-State or Tri-County, they are not required to become a
member of the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS® in order to obtain MLS or electronic keycard access. However, GHAR needs a letter
in good standing from the broker's REALTOR® association. The applicant must complete a GHAR membership application.
To Transfer From an Office
Complete the Office Affiliation for New Members/Change Form for Current Members to change office affiliation.
This form must be signed by the new broker or authorized signature. This form must be submitted with the applicable transfer fee.
