REALTORS® Safety Demonstration at the West Region Meeting

GHAR ended National REALTORS® Safety week with an interactive safety demonstration presented by Skip Rackmill, a three-time Aikido black belt instructor and REALTOR® motivational speaker. Members enjoyed hands-on, safety technique demonstrations and picked up some good prevention tips, as well. West Region Committee members in attendance included Bobbi Mathues, Elaine Groundwater (Chair), Kathie Lickwar (Vice Chair), Linda Kessler and Carolyn Darden. The event was sponsored by GHAR Affiliates Dave Sherwood, Sherwood Inspection Services; Jim Heneghan, Trinity Appraisal, and our newest Affiliate member, Heather Staley, Bearingstar Insurance.

The 2nd Annual Greater Hartford Open Golf Tournament

Presented by the Commercial Council of GHAR, the outing was held at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. The participants and sponsors made this event successful by helping to raise thousands of dollars in support of the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation.

Record-setting Funds Raised at 4th Annual GHAR® Charity Golf Tournament

A total of $10,000 given in support of Special Olympics Connecticut and Hartford Habitat for Humanity

The temperature wasn’t the only thing setting records at the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS® (GHAR) Charity Golf Tournament held June 9th at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington. Over 100 golfers, including UConn Women’s Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma, braved extreme heat to raise record-setting funds in the four year history of the golf outing, which was presented to Special Olympics Connecticut and the Hartford Habitat for Humanity.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to present these two quality organizations with donations made possible by the generosity of our participants and sponsors,” said Jeff Arakelian, President and CEO of GHAR. “It was a great event at a beautiful venue.”

GHAR is proud to present each of the selected charities with a check totaling $5,000. Pictured from left to right:

Fourth Annual Golf Tournament at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club raised over $10,000 for two charities: Special Olympics CT and Habitat for Humanity. The hot weather didn't slow down the fun!
