CE Requirements

Continuing Education (CE) is due on the even-numbered renewal years and must be completed 90 days prior to renewing your license.

  • BROKERS: 12 hours of CE credits completed between September 1, 2024 through August  31, 2026
  • SALESPERSONS: 12 hours of CE credits completed between March 1, 2024 through February 28th, 2026 

    • NEW LICENSEES
      • If you passed the licensing exam between March 1, 2024 and Feb. 28, 2026, your first Continuing Education will be due in 2028; all others are due in 2026.
      • No Continuing Education is due at the end of the first CE cycle after being licensed for those taking a CT licensing exam; however, those receiving a reciprocal license must complete CE for the first CE cycle.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made 2 business days before the start of the course to receive a full refund. Rescheduling is only permitted prior to the original course date/time. A $45 non-refundable fee applies if course materials are received.

Free CE Class Cancellation Policy

A $35 no-show fee will be assessed to students who fail to attend without giving 2 business days prior notice. Classes already purchased cannot be refunded for free courses.

CE Requirements

IMPORTANT:

Elective CE classes can be taken in person, live-virtual, or online. Mandatory CE classes are only valid if taken live or live-virtual. View the GHAR calendar to register.

Live virtual: Classes held with live instructor over Zoom. 
Online: Recorded classes online offered by The CE Shop (ghar.theceshop.com). *Not valid for mandatory CE classes this cycle.

BROKERS and SALESPERSONS: Complete 12 hours of continuing education courses. The courses consist of the following:

  1.  A three-hour (3) Mandatory CE Requirement:
    • CT Real Estate License Law 2024-2026 **only valid if the class is taken live or live-virtual. 
  2.  Nine (9) hours of various elective courses.

NAR's Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, was one of the first codifications of ethical duties adopted by any business group. The Code ensures that consumers are served by requiring REALTORS® to cooperate with each other in furthering clients' best interests.

Code of Ethics and Fair Housing Training

NAR's Code of Ethics and Fair Housing training every three years. This requirement will begin January 1, 2025 with a deadline of December 31, 2027. Tip: Take your Code of Ethics training during the CE cycle as an elective and knock out 3 CE cycle credits. 

NEW! REALTORS® are required to complete Fair Housing Training  upon becoming a member, and every 3 years thereafter, coinciding with the Code of Ethics training timeline. This requirement is in addition to the Code of Ethics training. Qualified training must be of not less than 2 hours of instructional time. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.

Continuing Education Online School

CE shop

The CE Shop will provide certificates directly, and online through the site, to the students who have completed their courses with The CE Shop.

Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS® has established an agreement with The CE Shop to promote online course information to consumers and real estate licensees. Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS® is not the developer of these courses and is simply providing a referral. Any questions regarding course content or technology should be directed to The CE Shop.

Certificate Upload

Please be aware that it is the licensee’s obligation to retain all printed certificates of completion for a four year period, and provide them to DCP, should you receive an audit letter from DCP.
