Principles & Practices
The Principles and Practices (Real Estate Pre-licensing course) course meets the minimum requirements as set forth by Department of Consumer Protection, Real Estate Commission, however, it is not approved for Appraisal licensing purposes. Principles and Practices courses are continuous start programs led by experienced instructor, David Jones.

- GHAR has a no recruitment policy that is strictly enforced.
- Continuous start program for the NIGHT 10 Week Course only.
- 1 week pre-registration is required. No walk ins.

Please register by the Tuesday prior to the Monday you would like to start. We need a week's notice for your registration. The required textbooks are shipped to you prior to class.

Course Policies
Cancellation Policy: Any cancellation will be subject to a processing fee of 10% ($52.50) of the tuition. Cancellation requests must be received prior to a student's start date. Tuition is non-refundable after the student's assigned start date. $45 non-refundable fee applies if course materials are received.
Course Time: Arriving late or leaving early will result in forfeiting the class hours for that evening. You must be on time for class and remain in class until the end. The State requires that you complete 60 hours for classroom study.
Course Completion: All students must complete the course within 6 months from their original start date. If the course is not completed within 6 months, a student will be required to re-register, pay a new full tuition and complete the entire course.
Missed Classes: A student is not allowed to miss classes without making them up. Students MUST make up the exact module that was missed. 60 hours of Classroom study is required. If a student misses more than two classes they will not be eligible for any make-up classes and shall forfeit the tuition paid. Students missing more than two classes who wish to complete the courses must re-register and pay full tuition again for a new course.
Leave of Absence: A student may be eligible for a leave of absence either for a medical or military leave. All requests are to be submitted to Member Services at The Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS® in writing. Approval will be at the sole discretion of the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS®.
Test Eligibility: Students will have 6 months from the date they complete the course to take the course exam. After 6 months, students will become ineligible to take the course exam and will have to re-register, pay the full tuition and complete the entire course again in order to re-establish their eligibility.
Re-take Test Fee: The initial test is free. There is a $50 retake fee after the first fail. Students are not allowed to view the exam whether they pass or fail.
Special Accommodations: Any special requests or accommodations need to be presented to GHAR in writing prior to scheduling the course.
Class Absences: Any student who comes in late or leaves early will be counted as absent.
Holiday Hours: Daytime Course - 5 Week: If Monday falls on a holiday the classes will be held on Wednesday and Friday for that week.
Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, call the GHAR office after 7:00 AM for any class announcements or updates at 860-561-1800.
Parking: Please park in the main lot. Do not park on the side adjacent to the dealership.
Zoom Guidelines: Live virtual class is intended to be like a classroom setting; Students must be stationary during class and full attention should be on the instructor. The student’s camera should always be on. Students should not be walking around, and not in a motor vehicle or driving, etc. during class.
- Students are required to check in 15 minutes prior to the start of class.
- Students must show a photo ID for identification purposes. Please have your license or passport available at the start of class.
- Students must join the virtual class via computer, laptop, or iPad with a working camera. All students must be seen during the entire class to receive credit for the virtual class.
- During the designated class time, students should be in a quiet, private section of their home or office, away from background noise and distractions.
- Students are not allowed to record and/or post the live-streaming class nor allow anyone else to record on their behalf.
- This is a 3-hour class with a 15-minute break. This class is live, and everyone can see each other and the instructor.
- Late attendance will NOT be Permitted.
