BRIDGE Mission Statement
GHAR Bridge Committee’s mission is to bridge the gap among GHAR membership and its historically marginalized members through improved channels of professional outreach, increased interpersonal engagement, educational and marketing strategies/opportunities and increased organizational support for success in the real estate industry.
The Program
The Scholarship Program was created by the Bridge Committee to advance its mission within the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS® and is funded through the GHAR Foundation.
GHAR Scholarship Award Guidelines
Scholarships are based on a one-time award of REALTOR® fees for the current year from January to December (exclusive of licensing).
Fees that are eligible for reimbursement include:
- Annual GHAR/CTR/NAR membership dues
- Annual Smart MLS subscriber fees
- Annual eKEY fees
GHAR Scholarship Award Eligibility
To be eligible for the Louis E. Allen, Sr. Scholarship award an individual must:
- Have not received the Louis E. Allen, Sr. Scholarship award.
- Be licensed within 3 months to 5 years of application deadline date October 31st. (Reinstatements or name changes are not considered new membership.)
- Upload a letter of recommendation, dated within the last 2 months from the Manager or Broker of the firm with which you are affiliated.
- Be able to make a claim of systemic disadvantage including but not limited to discrimination based on race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity / expression, ability, age, or socio-economic status.
- Submit a short essay in support of this claim responding to the following prompt:
How have you been underserved within the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS®, in the real estate industry, and/or society at large. How will the reimbursement of your dues empower you to overcome these obstacles and further your real estate career?

- Awards are announced by the Bridge Committee/GHAR Board of Directors in December.
- Applications must be submitted online using this form, including the upload of the letter of recommendation and your essay.
- Incomplete, unsigned, and/or illegible applications will not be considered, and you will not be advised of missing information.

Please write a short essay about how have you been underserved within the Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS®, in the real estate industry, and/or society at large. How will the reimbursement of your dues empower you to overcome these obstacles and further your real estate career?
By submitting this application, the applicant hereby irrevocably consents to permit the GHAR to use the applicant’s name and other non-confidential information, if the applicant is awarded a scholarship. Award recipients must be present at the designated Board of Directors meeting for the award presentation. Award recipients must attend the Annual GHAR Holiday Party for award recognition.
Providing false, misleading, or inaccurate information will result in disqualification, forfeiture, and repayment of the scholarship award.
