GHAR is proud to announce that Christine Green, a GHAR member and broker of Ardor Real Estate, is the recipient of the 2023 GHAR Good Neighbor Award in recognition of her charitable work on behalf of Protectors of Animals. The award recognizes a Realtor® who has made an extraordinary impact on their community through their volunteer time and talents. As a result of Christine’s volunteer work, Protectors of Animals (POA) will receive $1000 from the GHAR Foundation.
Christine has volunteered with POA for five years and currently serves on their Board of Directors. Her volunteer work includes feeding, walking, teaching basic commands, cleaning out pens and providing tons of love to each and every one of the dogs and cats at the shelter. Not only has Christine donated money and countless hours, she has also adopted two dogs that were hard to place due to medical issues.
“Often a pup arrives scared, hungry, abused and/or neglected. The stories we hear and the impact of abuse we witness firsthand are so hard to bear, however, after they spend time at the shelter and experience love, comfort and understanding you can see their trust build,” said Green, GHAR 2023 award winner.
“On behalf of GHAR’s membership, we are proud to present this award to Christine and her charity. Realtors volunteer three times more than the typical American and are champions of their communities. Christine is an excellent example of this because of her dedication to Protectors of Animals,” states GHAR CEO, Holly Callanan.
The GHAR Good Neighbor Award program is organized by the Community Involvement Committee of GHAR with criteria provided by the National Association of Realtors®.

Protectors of Animals
Protectors of Animals (POA) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 no-kill animal shelter and rescue. POA was formed in 1975 to rescue abandoned, abused and stray cats and dogs. Today we are one of the oldest and most respected animal welfare organizations in the northeast. POA is here to stay! You will not find a more dedicated, experienced or thorough resource for improving the lives of Connecticut cats and dogs. We confine our focus to our home state because this is where our infrastructure and resources reside, as well as our leadership. www.POAinc.org
