Several GHAR leaders recently attended the National Association of REALTORS® Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C., where REALTORS® from across the country met to discuss industry trends, advocacy priorities, professional standards, technology, and the future of our profession.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
NAR is developing resources to help brokerages establish AI policies and best practices. While AI offers tremendous opportunities, NAR emphasized the importance of verifying AI-generated information, documenting your work, and using AI responsibly to reduce risk.

Cybersecurity & Fraud
REALTORS® are encouraged to verify all wiring instructions directly with clients and settlement professionals, remain alert to increasingly sophisticated scams, and educate consumers about fraud prevention. Be aware of emails from addresses ending in .c0m rather than .com.
Housing Inventory Top Issue
Housing supply continues to be the industry's biggest challenge. NAR is actively advocating for policies that encourage new housing construction, support first-time homebuyers, modernize tax policies, and increase available housing inventory.
Professional Standards Updates
Several proposed changes to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Professional Standards were discussed, including updates that place greater emphasis on written compensation agreements rather than procuring cause when resolving compensation disputes. Additional proposals continue to be reviewed.
Member Resources
NAR expands resources for members:
- AI policy templates for brokerages
- New agent retention resources
- New tools designed specifically for small brokerages
- Additional educational programs and business development resources
Consumer Marketing
NAR's national consumer advertising campaign focuses on highlighting the value, professionalism, and expertise REALTORS® bring to every transaction.
Fair Housing & Homeownership
Expanding homeownership opportunities remains a major priority. Discussions focused on down payment assistance, first-time homebuyer education, and local initiatives that help more families achieve the dream of homeownership.
REALTOR® Safety
NAR expands REALTOR® safety education with additional training focused on scams, cyber threats, fraudulent transactions, and personal safety in the field.
The Legislative Meetings also gave our GHAR leadership the opportunity to meet with Connecticut's Congressional delegation and collaborate with REALTOR® leaders from across the country on issues affecting private property rights and the real estate industry.
We appreciate the opportunity to represent GHAR and bring these updates back to our membership. If you have questions about any of these initiatives or would like additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out: ghar@gharonline.com or call 860.561.1800
